摘要：传统英语阅读教学模式着重培养学生对语言点和生词的理解，使得学生在学习知识点中非常被动，导致阅读效果不理想，阅读水平难以提高。因此，探究一个合适的英语阅读教学方式非常重要。PBL教学模式不同于传统教学模式，它是以学生为中心的教学模式。PBL教学模式对培养学生发现、分析和解决问题的意识、兴趣、习惯和能力,形成创造性与批判性思维都有着重要意义。同时也符合了我国2011年新课改的要求。 

为探究PBL教学模式在初中英语阅读教学中的应用，本文以听课、试上、采访等形式对海口市四所初中进行了调查研究。整合研究结果表明：在PBL教学模式的引导下，学生的确提高了在阅读中推断作者意图、观点和态度的能力，也让学生在英语阅读课堂的学习积极性有所提高，并且该模式在培养学生的自主学习能力、创新思维能力、同伴协作能力等方面都具有积极作用。
