一、教材内容分析

This unit is the third unit in the first volume of Grade 8. This unit is to learn how to describe the characteristics of people and the differences between people in terms of appearance, personality and so on. Teacher needs to guide students to learn how to describe and compare people by learning and using comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs. Students also need to learn how to describe the personal traits and changes of others in real life. Through the study of this unit, students can deepen their understanding of the differences between people, and cultivate their feelings of tolerance and respect for others. Through a serious of listening, speaking, reading and writing exercises, the students' ability to use English is cultivated comprehensively. Through the activities of Group work and Pair work, we can promote the communication among students and enhance their tacit understanding and friendship.

二、学习者特征分析

The students in this class are very active but most of them have a poor English foundation. This is because changing English teachers often affects students' learning effect. So they have little interest in learning English. They also don't develop good study habits such as wrong English pronunciation, not reciting words, not finishing homework carefully, etc. However, as the new semester begins, they are confident that they can learn English well. They begin to listen carefully, recite words and finish homework on time. They become interested in English gradually.
