一、教材内容分析
This unit is from the textbook which is published by People’s Education Press. This unit focuses on studying frequency adverbs, and a new sentence pattern: How often do you exercise? Students can learn to describe their after-school activities, and learn to ask questions and know other people's after-school life. In section A,1a-1c discusses extracurricular activities with frequency words. 2a-2d is based on listening and speaking training for improving students' coherence in conversation and communicative ability. Grammar Focus-3c focuses on answering questions, making sentences, and investigating method of studying English. In section B, 1a-1e focuses on learning new words, situational communication and listening training. This part of listening and speaking training are equally important, students can further master the key sentence patterns and enlarge their vocabulary. Taking writing and reading as the main training method, 2a-2d reinforces the key grammar of this class by describing the extracurricular life of fifth middle school students. 3a-3c focuses on filling blanks and writing report to train the students' comprehensive English ability.
二、学习者特征分析
After studying in Grade 7, the students in Grade 8 have accumulated some English knowledge, and their enthusiasm of learning English is much higher than before. However, it is not easy to arouse the learning autonomy of the eighth-grade students in learning English. It requires the teacher to design teaching activities well to improve students' interest in learning English. Students are willing to participate in classroom activities. Students will also have more opportunities to show themselves. The eighth grade is the turning point of junior high school. With the accumulation of knowledge, students should pay more attention to the training of listening, speaking, reading and writing, so as to improve their comprehensive English ability.
