Abstract: Christian culture, an indispensable part of western culture, plays a very important role in Harriet Beecher Stowe's masterpiece Uncle Tom's Cabin. The novel is full of religious atmosphere. The protagonist in the novel, Uncle Tom, is a typical Christian. He is philanthropic but docile. He is loyal but inflexible. Bible is the principle in his life. Bible and Christianity are throughout the novel, and Christian culture has a great effect on the destiny of the character in the novel. This paper aims to analyze the formation of Uncle Tom’s personality from the perspective of the Christian culture and the influence of the Christian culture on his life. The first part mainly discusses the advantages and disadvantages of Uncle Tom's personalities, especially his loyalty, philanthropy and obedience. The second part focuses on the Christian culture reflected in the book. The third part mainly analyzes the Christian culture's influence on Uncle Tom's personality and destiny.
