摘要：语言和文化之间有着密不可分的联系，文化背景的差异赋予了各种语言不一样的内涵。颜色词作为一门语言中非常重要的一部分，在一定程度上也反映了这门语言所包含的文化内涵。本文从中英两种语言的基本颜色词对比入手，探索各基本颜色词在两门语言中不同的文化起源和隐含意义，并将中英基本颜色词的发展分为古代和现代两个阶段，分别进行跨文化角度的相同点和不同点的分析，研究中英基本颜色词随历史变革所产生的变化。
