中文摘要：本文分析《米德尔马契》和《贵妇画像》两部著作中,主人公多萝西娅和伊莎贝尔·阿切尔两次对婚姻的选择，既符合19世纪时期女性主义发展在一定程度上影响女性的婚恋观的社会背景，又与乔治·艾略特和亨利·詹姆斯两位作者的婚恋观不谋而合。虽然两位主人公都具有先进的婚恋思想，但在追求理想与婚姻的同时，并不能逃脱历史的局限性，在婚姻上做出心满意足的选择。影响多萝西娅和伊莎贝尔婚姻选择的因素有很多方面，除了社会大背景及其作者的影响，还有她们本身的原因。虽然她们的选择不尽相同，但她们都没有得到理想婚姻的结局是相似的。本文第一章简单地介绍女性主义发展的背景，第二章分别介绍两位作者的婚恋观，第三章介绍多萝西娅和伊莎贝尔的婚姻情况，并对两女的婚姻选择作对比。通过对两女婚姻的探究，让我们可以更好地理解女性主义和婚姻之间的联系，对女性主义的发展有一定的借鉴意义。
