一、教材内容分析

This unit is from the textbook of People’s Education, Book 1, Unit 9. This unit is around the topic of “talking about your favorite subject”, including various forms of listening, speaking, reading, and writing learning activities.

After learning this unit, students can talk about their favorite subjects or other things they like and give reasons. They will arrange their work and rest time wisely. And their listening, speaking, reading and writing ability can be improved. In addition, students can develop a love of learning and good habits of life and study.

The first period of this unit is vocabulary and speaking, which helps students make a solid foundation for the following learning process and practice their speaking skills.   

The second period of this unit is grammar. In this section, students will learn to give reasons using “because”, and know how to use special question correctly.     

The third period of this unit is a letter about Yu Mei’s schedule. The teaching type of this class is reading. Students will read the letter and complete the girl’s schedule. In this process, their reading ability of scanning and analyzing can be trained.

The next period of this unit is listening. The listening material in this period is a little difficult for students, which exercises the students’ listening skills to grasp the main information. 

The last period of this unit is writing, which teaches students how to write an e-mail message about their Friday schedule.
