一、教材内容分析
This unit is the twelfth unit in the second volume of Grade 7 Go for it. This unit mainly focuses on the communicative function of “talking about past events” about weekend activities, and the grammar concentrates on the simple past tense, What questions and Who questions. In Section A, students are supposed to know some vocabularies and phrases about activities. Students should also know the past forms of the vocabularies. This part also presents some materials by asking questions with who, what, when, how or where and answering these questions by using the simple past tense. Section B introduces more phrases about weekend activities. Listening, speaking, reading and writing activities are all centered on weekend activities. Students can further talk about some interesting or scary things that they countered at weekends with their partners and classmates. The reading material for this unit is a story about Lisa and her family finding a snake near their tents while travelling to India. Lisa told the story by using the simple past tense. The post-reading activities enable students to answer some detailed questions and put the phrases in order, which can not only deepen the understanding of the content and structure, but also prepare for the retelling and writing later. So the topic of “talking about what you did last week” is close to students’ life, and can easily arouse students' interest in learning and make them willing to participate in relevant activities.
