一、教材内容分析
This unit is the fifth unit in the second semester of Grade 7 Go for it. The content of the textbook takes “animals” as the topic. Students can understand the habits,appearance and origin of animals by using the special questions guided by “Why”, “Where” and “What”. At the same time, students can learn to describe their favourite animals in English and express their preferences to animals. There are five periods in this unit. In Section A, students are supposed to learn the animal's names, growing places and habits, and to use English to talk about their preferences and reasons for animals. Section B is still around the scene of visiting the zoo. Through listening and speaking training, students can better grasp the perceptual descriptive adjectives, and further use the special questions guided by "why", "where" and "what" in the real situation. The reading material for this unit is about the protection of endangered animals: elephants, aiming to cultivate students' awareness of animal protection and humanistic quality. At the same time, several activities set up in the reading part can not only cultivate students' reading ability, but also cultivate students' thinking ability and discourse comprehension ability. 3a-3b activities are from easy to difficult, from filling in the blanks to writing, which can be conducive to students' imitation writing and reduce the difficulty. Because the content is about animals, most students like them, so it is closely related to students’ life.Students will have the desire to learn it, and their efficiency of learning can be improved accordingly. The important points of this unit are animal names, adjectives describing animal characteristics, special questions and their answers, and the cultivation of reading skills.
