英语在国际上的地位不言而喻，无论是政治经济还是文化，英语都是国际上的官方用语。科技的不断发展，国家之间联系越来越频繁，世界经济也正向着经济全球化的方向发展，英语成为了国际贸易中一种必须掌握的语言，在国际交往中正是由英语作为桥梁，将不同国家的背景，交往中的细节，文化习俗表达清楚，最后才能保证国际贸易的顺利完成，所以说英语在国际贸易中有着重要的作用。

英语加学科随着世界交流的加深，形成地球村，需要一大批通晓英语的人才，来服务于当下一带一路建设及海外工程建设，助推我国资本向全球扩张，实现两个一百年奋斗目标。单一的英语不利于人才培养，目前需求多是复合型人才，英语加学科即是。所以目前很多学校开设相关选修课程。使所培养的人才具有国际素养。当今世界多极化经济全球化是21世纪的主流。
