一、教材内容分析

 

This unit is the sixth unit in the first volume of Grade 8 Go for it, which mainly talks about “Life goals”. Through this topic, students can use simple future tense to express their dream jobs, so that it’s easy to get the communicative function. This unit contains two parts: Section A and Section B. In Section A, most activities involve listening and speaking. In this part, students can master some new words and phrases about different jobs, such as pilot, computer programmer，engineer and so on. Besides, students can grasp the meaning and usage of "be going to" through listening and speaking activities .Section B focuses on reading and writing. This part is about a passage of resolution. It’s relevant to students' life so that they are very interested in this passage. On the base of Section A and this passage, students can express their points of view more clearly. So when they need to write, there are lots of materials ready for them. This writing task is “write your own resolution”. It is very attractive for students because students in this grade always have lots of longings for their future. Talking about their life goals is a topic that students are interested in, which can stimulate their desire to speak English, fully mobilize their enthusiasm for learning, and guide them to deeply explore and independently design their goals.
