一、教材内容分析
This unit focuses on physical geography and animals. Students can learn how to read large numbers and how to express the structure of a measure. In the activities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, student’s comprehensive ability is further improved. For example, speaking activities can improve communicative ability. Besides, through the reading materials, students can understand the precipitousness of Mount Qomolangma and the courage and practical spirit of human beings to overcome difficulties and challenge limits, and they will also establish the awareness of animal protection.
二、学习者特征分析
After entering the eighth grade, students have certain English foundation and language learning ability, and strong language perception ability, which is the advantage of English learning. On the one hand, students' motivation of learning English is higher. On the other hand, in the eighth grade, differentiation phenomenon appear on the students in the study. Some students’ English language foundation and ability to expand the use of language is poorer with a lack of patience in learning process, so the teacher should encourage students to study actively and stimulate students’ interest in learning. At the same time, flexible and varied teaching design and rich activities are needed, which can encourage students to do more language practice, and eventually guide students to develop good study habits.
